Lavender is one of my all time favorites. It is my go to essential oil for soap making, just for starts. I actually have a pretty good size lavender plant right next to the walkway and I rub the leaves several times during a day just to get a whiff of that aroma – so wonderful! But, did you know that lavender has some great health benefits, too? It sure does! It relieves stress, promotes a better mood (which could explain why I go out there to smell it so much 😉 ), it also reduces inflammation, eliminates dandruff, soothes stomach bloating and more!
Here is a great recipe to try out now that the weather is nicer!
- 1 cup raw honey
- 6 cups hot water (note: we have well water, but if you have city water, go get good pure water from the store and boil that hot).
- 1/4 cup crushed lavender buds
- 1 cup-ish of fresh squeezed lemon juice, or same amount of ReaLemon
Dissolve honey in hot (but not boiling) water. Let your lavender buds steep in the water mixture until it has cooled, or you remember to go back to it.
Strain mixture, and discard to you liking, the buds.
Add the infusion to a pitcher along with the lemon juice. Add more honey, or lemon juice to taste. Do NOT add lavender essential oil as this could cause reactions. Just stick to the natural lavender buds. 🙂
